What to expect

  • You may experience swelling, redness, tenderness, slight headache, pains, and/or bruising that may occur for several days after my treatment, however, these symptoms will resolve. Rarely, an adjacent muscle may be weakened for several weeks after injections.
  • The skin may appear red and swollen and have a mild sunburn sensation. This is a normal reaction. It can last from a few hours to days after treatment. Applying an ice pack for the first 24 hours will help minimize swelling.
  • Freckles and sunspots may turn slightly darker initially and then flake off within 7-14 days. This is a desired and normal reaction
  • List of Possible Risks, Complications & Side Effects to Botox:
    1. Hypersensitivity, Allergic response, Anaphylactic reaction (rare but can occur)
    2. Asymmetry of facial expressions
    3. Muscle weakness, twitching
    4. Bruising/swelling/skin redness
    5. Stinging/burning
    6. Headaches
    7. Drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow (ptosis)/local muscle weakness, double vision, dry/teary eyes
    8. Hives, feeling faint, nausea or flu-like symptoms, tiredness
    9. Swelling of the face or throat, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing
    10. Infection at the treatment site
    11. Period to take effect, further treatment needed, remaining muscle movement


Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Do not touch the treated area for 24 hours.
  • Avoid sun exposure and do not perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting or heavy exercise for 6 hours after treatment.
  • Do not lie down for 4 hours after your Botox treatment. This will prevent the Botox from tracking into the orbit of your eye and causing drooping eyelids and drooping eyebrows.
  • Do not bend for 4 hours after your Botox treatment.
  • Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you experience swelling.
